The Chinese word for “Anxiety” is 「焦慮」, which literally translates to “burned thoughts/worries” - as if when one thinks too much, their thoughts are scorched.
Inspired by this etymology, a superslow motion video of a burning candle was captured. Upon first glance, the lit candle seems to be offering peace to its viewer, yet it is when one further observes, when they will realize the movements of the flame is unusally quick and sudden.
Through manipulating the frame-per-second of the video, each flicker of the flame was speedboosted 800x times, resulting in a flickering light that moves in sudden motions, resembling the contraction of muscles and mumbling of anxious thoughts.
